How is it that my kid graduated from kindergarten already? Six years have come and gone so fast! I really believe that I had no concept of time whatsoever until I had kids. Kids really put things (and life) into perspective. So, here he is – my little peanut with his kindergarten teacher, Ms. Amanda:
Brian and I are both products of public schools and we have always intended on sending our kids to public school as well. We believe that as long as parents are fully involved in their children’s education that public school is a good institution where children will thrive. However, when it came time to put Ethan in kindergarten we were at a crossroads. On one hand, we wanted to put him in public school to cut the costs we had endured for the last few years for his full time daycare. On the other hand, public school meant another drop off for two commuting full-time parents. After a lot of thought and deliberation we decided to keep Ethan at the same school he attended for daycare and pre-K. Violet was still going to daycare there and it made sense for us to continue with a single drop-off location as long as we could. Even though we wouldn’t be saving on tuition at least we had the convenience. In the end we were glad we made that decision. Ethan’s kindergarten class ended up only having nine kids in the classroom most of the year; a 9 to 1 ratio made for a great education. Ethan learned so much this past year and we couldn’t be prouder. We are also thankful that he had such a wonderful teacher who genuinely cared for our child.
Ethan was so lucky to have such amazing teachers for daycare, Pre-K and Kindergarten. We are so grateful that we were able to get him into this school and that he had such great opportunities. He’s made some great friends too; friends that I hope he keeps for years to come.
Not only has my peanut learned a lot this year but he’s had a few chances to show off his talent. Here’s just one example from graduation. Check out those moves! Not bad for a six year old.
The walls in the auditorium were even decorated with artwork made by the students.
Now on to a new school for first grade!
I so enjoy following your life activities. I feel I know you and your family even though I only met you once in Massachusetts……….. I am glad you shared your own background story at the beginning of your website. Reading your story and following your daily events on Facebook have made me feel that you are a part of my life in a way that my friends are part of my life. I still think your wedding gown (l love the design on the back of it) is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. I am so glad that you and Brian found each other. You have a lovely and loving family and your children are very lucky.
