This weekend was a three-day weekend. It was our nation’s Independence Day. Ironic, since we are still in lockdown thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. While a lot of people are unhappy about not being able to leave the house, I’ve been really enjoying being home. Since the stay at home orders were enforced for California in March, I’ve managed to get my blog going again (as you can see), we’ve almost completed the painting of then entire house interior, we cook and eat in all the time, and we’ve been trying new things.
For the “something new” this weekend, we filmed a few videos to support Boy Scouts of America (BSA), specifically the Greater Los Angeles Area Council‘s, Virtual Cub Day Camp. As part of our BSA Wood Badge leadership course in late 2019, Brian and I committed to completing five goals within our council. One of those goals was to work on staff for a week at Cub Day Camp this summer at Camp Trask. Unfortunately, with all that’s going on in the world, Cub Camp was cancelled this year. So, instead we are helping to provide content for the virtual Cub Camp instead. If you are registered for the Webelos Cub Camp you’ll see our family. We walk through all of the requirements necessary to earn the Cast Iron Chef Adventure. This kids also filmed a video on one of the requirements for the Scouting Adventure.
It was so much fun filming. While being at home isn’t the ideal situation for Scouts, I saw it as an opportunity to do something new as a family. We ended up spending time together planning and filming, trying great food, and even getting outdoors. Hopefully, our video will also help other Scouts complete their Cast Iron Chef Advancement too.
Here’s a little peak at a couple of the bloopers from the day:
