Brian and I have been so excited about having baby number two (lovingly nicknamed B2) but we cannot believe how fast this pregnancy has flown by. We decided early on that we wanted to move Ethan to, what was, the spare room and put B2 in the existing nursery. I’m not sure what we were thinking when we decided this because this meant that we had to decorate two rooms in the same nine-month period. Insane!
We ended up switching the theme of Ethan’s room, since we were starting with a clean anyways, to Vintage Snoopy by Lambs and Ivy. We always wanted to stick with a Disney theme since Brian and I love Disney so much but the quality of all the Disney bedding was, well, lacking. Lambs and Ivy makes really nice quality bedding and accessories. We were inspired to find a Snoopy theme by an old Snoopy plush that Brian’s mom gave us that belonged to Brian as a child. Ethan loves that Snoopy so it was pretty much a no-brainer.
But now, the real problem. What to do for a theme for B2’s room? I was completely torn. I wanted to stick with Disney but am so anti-princess I can’t express it. And Tinkerbell. No. We thought about just keeping the existing Pooh & Friends theme but I really wanted to do something different. Just because B2 is, well, baby number two I didn’t want her to get all hand-me-downs. I want her to be just as special as Ethan is to us. So, the hunt was on. I’ve always loved Hello Kitty as a child. (Okay. Okay. I admit it – I still do. There I said it.) But, all my friends know I love purple and I am as much anti-pink as I am anti-princess. And then I found it. Hello Kitty & Friends by Lambs and Ivy in lavender and spring green. Done. Brian laughed when I screamed with excitement that I had found Hello Kitty in lavender and green. He knew he had no say in the matter after that. Gotta love him for that!
So, here we are 29 days to go until B2’s arrival – Ethan has a new room, B2’s room is nearly complete, and I have officially felt my first contraction. Thanks goodness we at least got B2’s room painted, the furniture assembled, and the crib/bed made. I’m hoping that by this weekend both rooms will be 100% complete. Ethan’s room still needs the display shelves hung and the wall appliques arranged. B2’s room just needs things hung (wall art, pictures, display shelves), the changing table stocked, and some final clean up.
We are both so excited. I have one more week of work to go and then it’s all things baby for the next three months before I head back to work. I know time will fly. There will always be something to count down to but nothing quite like this.
